Last night marked the return of the prestigious Screen Nations awards at the Indigo O2, Peninsular Square, London. The venue was beaming and the Screen Nations team looked elegant in black. The red carpet was buzzing with the arrival of stars. The night again paid tribute to some of the best and brightest in TV and film from the black community.

It was also a landmark day for Screen Nations founder Charles Thompson MBE who passed the baton to Josie d’arby as the awards Director. The GUBA Awards judge (Thompson) closed the proceedings with a fitting speech about contribution and input. His contribution as awards director will undoubtedly be missed.

Among the guests were stars like Zaraah Abrahams, Nozo Anozie, Arinze Kene and Tameka Empson. Angellica Bell and hubby Michael Underwood did a great job hosting the awards. Bell looked great in a white flowing dress.

Amongst this years winners was Ghanaian actor Majid Michel who picked up the award for Favourite West African Actor. Majid beat off stiff competition from fellow Ghanaian actor John Dumelo and Nigeria’s Mike Ezuruonye, Osita Iheme, Ramsey Noah and Hakeem Kae Kazim to win the award.

The guests were in good spirits and at the end a standing ovation was given to Clarke Peters for receiving the outstanding contribution awards.

The night was brought to a close to the sounds of Omar Akram. With guests partying into the night.
