The event which was held at the Golders Green Hippodrome on the 7th of July saw the award winning gospel artist emerge as the biggest winner of the night, winning two awards.

Sonnie Badu won the awards for Album of the Year for his ‘Colours of Africa’ album and was also awarded with the Trailblazer Award for his outstanding contributions to African gospel music.

He faced contenders across the globe like Israel Mosehla (South Africa), Diana Hamilton (UK), Emmy Kosgei (Kenya), Chapter 1 (Ghana), Muyiwa and Riversongz (UK), Florocka (Nigeria), Ohemaa Mercy (Ghana), Solly Mahlangu (South Africa) and Rebecca (UK) in the Album of the Year Category.

“I count myself blessed to have been awarded with these awards and I give all the glory to God. I also say a very big thank you to my supporters and all those who voted for me, because without them, none of this would have been possible. I love you all so much and it is my promise to continue making you and all of Africa proud” said Sonnie Badu

Sonnie Badu continues to show his dedication to uniting Africa through the use of gospel music. We at GUBA are proud of our former winner and hope that he continues to do great things.
