The TutuDesk Campaign is a charity set up in honour of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Tutudesk provide portable school desks (known as Tutudesks) to children in Sub Saharan Africa. The lack of a classroom desk in many schools in Sub Saharan Africa and across the world makes Tutudesk a functional and innovative equipment.
The flat surface of the Tutudesk makes an easier writing surface for children across the world.
Tutudesks are manufactured in South Africa and funding for the desks mainly comes from sponsors who imprint the top of the desks with their messaging, using it as a unique way to engage with local communities.
Over 1 million desks have been distributed to date and the Tutudesk Campaign aims to provide 20 million desks to 20 million children by 2020.
A Tutudesk is great for children and adults alike. It can be used whilst working from bed or on the floor, or perhaps for eating your dinner on the sofa. It also provides a great talking point. They are now available on Amazon: amzn.to/I1oR1X
To coincide with the launch Tutudesks are running a competition to win a Tutudesk signed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. All you need to do is follow @tutudesk on Twitter to be in with a chance of winning.
