The CEO of the Ghana UK Based Achievement (GUBA) Awards has been adjudged the Best Event Organizer of the Year at the 3rd Women4Africa Awards held in London over the weekend.  The awards are aimed at acknowledging and rewarding distinguished and astounding women around the world in various fields.

Women4africa is a UK based organization focused on celebrating and empowering Africa and its women. At this year’s awards, over 20 women across the world were recognized for their work. Dentaa beat competition from five other organizations who were nominated for the award.  During her acceptance speech, Dentaa Amoateng stated:

“Being nominated was an achievement in itself, I never thought we would win, I am so pleased to pick up this award. The win shows that planning, dedication and effort does not go unrecognized. I would like to thank the GUBA team for all their support “.

Dentaa was also the recipient of the Inspirational African and African Women in Europe award in 2013.

The GUBA Awards is a non-profit organization which donates proceeds towards charitable schemes operating within the Ghanaian community, and provides an “engaging platform” for promoting greater cultural diversity in the UK as well as raising the profile of Ghana. In 2012 the GUBA Foundation was set up to tackle a broad spectrum of issues affecting Ghanaian and African communities.

GUBA has been acknowledged and endorsed for its role in recognizing Ghanaian achievements in the UK, as well as promoting the national interest of Ghana and the African community. In July 2013, the GUBA Awards received an International Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Excellence Award, beating over 100 nominees from the UK corporate sector.

Meanwhile this year’s GUBA awards would be held in November at the O2 in London.
