The Screen Nation Digital iS Media Awards held in London on Sunday the 20th of December 2015, awarded GUBA allies – Akua Gyamfi and Claire Clottey with prestigious awards.

GUBA Judge and Founder of The British Blacklist – Akua Gyamfi, received the Favourite Entertainment and Lifestyle Site of the Year Award alongside GUBA Red Carpet Host and Bang Radio Presenter – Claire Clottey who won the Favourite Online Presenter Award.

Akua Gyamfi’s career began as a hairdresser in Portobello Road but left to study Multimedia and Journalism. Akua’s career in journalism took off at French British magazine Bolz and subsequently worked at the BBC Performing Arts Fund and the BBC ‘Writersroom’, where she gained valuable insight into the machinations of script writing.

In 2012, Akua founded The British Blacklist, an online portal chronicling the careers of professionals from film, television, theatre, literature and music. Today, the website is the first of its kind offering researched information about creative and entertainment industry professionals from the British African Caribbean community

Claire Clottey joined Bang Radio after a short stint at Westside FM. In March 2014 she has presented ‘The Conversation’ at Bang Radio broadcasting every Sunday at 10am. The show shares insightful news on the latest headlines, some social media trends and live discussions on current affairs.

Claire ClotteyThe award winning radio presenter, started her career working as project worker for young women at risk of exclusion from mainstream schools. Soon, she moved to work as a youth offending officer assistant, Teenage Pregnancy and Sexual Health Advisor and later promoted to a Children’s Centre Network Manager for Brent Council.

Claire’s desire to ‘Give Back’ is benefiting people both in the UK and Africa, with her support for charities such as GUBA Foundation. Her passion for education and entertainment has led to her rapid progress as an ‘edutainer’.

The Screen Nation Digital iS Media Awards is a competitive excellence platform that showcases the best work being published online made by black British and international digital media creatives, across various platforms. The award seeks to unearth and reward upcoming digital talents.
