Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings and more Celebrate GUBA Awards 2015 on the 4th of July.

Konadu-Rawlings1The 4th of July 2015 marks the 5th anniversary celebration of the Ghana UK Based Achievement (GUBA) Awards. The GUBA Awards is an organisation dedicated to acknowledging and rewarding prominent achievers within the British Ghanaian community. The 2015 segment of the awards ceremony is set to be held at the glamourous Hilton Metropole Hotel, Edgware Road, London.

Since its inception in 2010, GUBA has been dedicated to unearthing and acknowledging talent and throughout the years, many talented individuals have been awarded; Footballer Asamoah Gyan, Mogul Herman Chinery-Hesse, Musicians Fuse ODG, Mista Silva, to name a few.

Running under the theme ‘Celebrating Excellence’, the awards ceremony will be hosted by award winning duo – Afua Hirsch and Kwami Sefa Kayi. Afua Hirsch is a leading international broadcaster and Editor at Sky News. Kwami Sefa Kayi is the anchor-man at Peace FM in Ghana and a Radio and TV Presenter with over twenty years of experience in the media industry. Exclusive red carpet interviews will be conducted by Bang Radio Presenter – Claire Clottey.

Headline acts for the night include talented Ghanaian artist – Becca and the electrifying Compozers band.  The newly composed GUBA Anthem will also be unveiled with a video at Midnight. The GUBA Anthem ‘Arise Mama Africa’ aims to motivate and inspire further change in Africa. The anthem will be available for purchase on iTunes on the night, with proceeds going towards GUBA Foundation’s Infant Mortality Campaign to buy 100 incubators for hospitals in Ghana.

An array of dignitaries and special guests will also be in attendance; including former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana – Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.

Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, was the incumbent First Lady of Ghana in 1979 and 1981 to 2001, following the election of her husband- His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings as President of Ghana. During her tenure, she engaged in a number of progressive diplomatic efforts on behalf of Ghana.

Speaking to GUBA, she states:  The GUBA Awards inspires, connects and empowers those being honoured and a celebration of achievement. The GUBA Awards is a great initiative, I will be in attendance and I encourage you all to be there.

Other confirmed dignitaries are: British High Commissioner to Ghana Hon Jon Benjamin, The Mayor of Royal Borough of Greenwich- Norman Adams, Councillor John Fahy, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Dianne Abbott MP, Lord Hastings, Kwesi Kwarteng MP and more.

  • Bradley Poku-Amankwah and Vanessa Hagan – Best Student Achiever and Runner Up

The Black Star Awards are accompanied by three voting categories; Artist Extraordinaire Award, Young & Talented Award and GUBA Humanitarian Award, with winners being unveiled on the night.

A standard ticket cost £75 and VIP tickets are also available at £110 each or £1000 for a table of 10 people. The VIP ticket grants access to VIP lounge, dedicated service, networking opportunities, enhanced drinks package.
